About Me
I am a passionate bilingual journalist with a keen eye for news judgment and a dedication to ethical and responsible storytelling. Whether through long-form multimedia narratives or radio production, I strive to convey each situation accurately and conscientiously. My commitment to ethical journalism drives me to present the most truthful and nuanced narratives, always aiming to reflect the complexities of any situation with integrity.
Recently I finished a radio production fellowship at Science Friday, where I produced stories on a wide range of scientific topics. My responsibilities included pitching story ideas, researching segments, pre-interviewing and booking guests, and writing host and web copy. My segments have attracted an average of 70,000 listeners each, covering topics such as the potential of using DNA for computing and the future of exoplanet research.
In May 2024, I graduated with an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia Journalism School, where I specialized in environmental policy and sustainable development. My master's project focused on New York City's Local Law 97 and its feasibility. I also took a climate reporting seminar where I focused my reporting on the economics of climate solutions, as well as an investigating with data across borders seminar, where I looked into the impacts of lithium mining globally. My dedication earned me class honors in media law, journalism history, data journalism, and investigating across borders.
Before Columbia, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in cultural diplomacy from the University of Southern California in May 2023. My capstone project explored how American culture influences the identities of Mexican immigrants, earning me the School of Journalism’s Undergraduate Director’s Award for Excellence.
During my undergraduate studies, I served as executive radio producer at Annenberg Media, leading a team of reporters to produce a daily radio show covering local Los Angeles news. I also worked as an associate editor and writer for Glimpse from the Globe, reporting on environmental development, human rights, and international policy in developing countries.
My reporting experience extends beyond the United States; I have created content in several countries, including Mexico and Colombia, demonstrating my adaptability and proficiency in navigating new environments.
When not reporting, I enjoy delving into vexillology and cartography, building intricate Lego sets, exploring the world with my camera, and defending the Star Wars prequels online.
